Raining in Redding

“Give them the wisdom to guide this great nation, the strength to protect it, and the hands to heal it. We bless President Donald J. Trump. We ask that You give him the wisdom of Solomon, the vision of Joseph, and the meekness of Christ. Solomon, who kept peace among many nations, Joseph, who dreamed better for the people, and Christ who accepted us all. Oh Lord, mend our hearts, and stitch together the fabric of this great country”   Bishop Wayne T. Jackson’s prayer, offered at the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump, January 20, 2017

Sunday, 46 degrees, wind 0 mph, cloudy, very wet.

After a very windy and rainy night, the sun is peeking out for a few moments this morning.  It seems like it has been raining continuously for the last 3 weeks.  Rivers and lakes are very full (as high as I have ever seen them) and each time I go to Home Depot for remodeling supplies, there are people purchasing sand bags to help control the water.  I’m very grateful we do not have that issue at our house.

Made for a great day on Thursday picking up Cindy and Emily at the SAC airport.  Great to have them both home again.  We have all been relaxing and enjoying each other’s company for the last few days, watching the news, having dinner out & cooking at home.  Emily has stayed in the RV with us these first 3 nights since Ben had someone renting the Air B&B.  That has been nice to have her here & close.

Friday was a historic day, with Trump/Pence being elected as the new leaders of our country.  The inauguration was very interesting to watch & we were very encouraged to see the reverence and repeated requests to God for wisdom to guide this country.  It will be a long and tough road ahead, but it is a huge relief to see someone in a position of leadership who has experience in business which should give a very different perspective on the current challenges caused by regulation and taxes.

Dinner Friday night with Emily’s friend/roommate Jessica and her boyfriend Alex (steaks and shrimp since that is what they were having at the Inaugural luncheon for Trump on Friday).  Ben and Bethany were also with us & it was great to enjoy a nice meal together and some lively conversation as well.

Heavy rain continued Friday and Saturday, putting a bit of a damper on doing much.  Cindy, Emily & I enjoyed watching a movie with Ben Affleck “The Accountant” which was actually very good.  Today, Sunday, we will plan to attend the 1pm service at Bethel and then relax for the rest of the day.

Good week of progress on the master bed/bath remodeling with tidying up electrical, plumbing, hvac & getting the ceiling put back together.  Starting to look like a master suite again, but still a ways to go.  Hoping to hit it hard again on Monday with final framing in the shower area, demolition of the toilet area tile, ordering plumbing…etc.  Lots of decisions to be made (tile selections, plumbing fixtures/locations, shower door size/style…etc.)  Sample selections in photos below…. before we know it, the remodel will be done.

I need to get back in the habit of taking photos… have been slacking these last few weeks.  Always more interesting to include photos in the posts.
