Weekly recap, Sunday morning

From a scene from “Captain Ron” (quite possibly the best movie ever made…:)

Benjamin Harvey: [Overhearing his parents] Wow. We’re getting a boat? Too cool.

Katherine Harvey: Ben, remember our discussion about eavesdropping?

Benjamin Harvey: Okay. But we’re getting a boat?

Katherine Harvey: Your father and I have to talk about it.

Benjamin Harvey: Alright. We’re getting a boat.

Sunday morning, 67 degrees, clear skies, wind 0-3mph, snow geese flying in formation overhead, so low that I can hear their wings swishing through the air.  Roses are blooming in the gardens, struggling from the summer heat, but you can tell they are about to blossom in earnest.

We will miss this beautiful place.  The plan is to leave Tuesday to head back to Texas for a couple of months of catching up with family, business and misc.  Breaking the visit up with the trip to Annapolis in early October, and then likely several other small trips here and there (boat shopping?).

Lots of progress on the bungalow remodel this week.  Ben and I were busy installing things & Cindy busy shopping for more things to install (teamwork!)  Cabinet hardware, fire extinguisher, smoke detectors, window blinds, bed headboard, closet doors, window trim, baseboards….etc.  Looks like we have reached the goal of having the place ready for Air B&B and its exciting to see how that will progress.  We heard that another Air B&B home in the area was booked nearly full time.

We have a big blue book that we use as our ToDo list.  Items with a star are urgent.  Each Monday we start the day reviewing items and making a plan for the rest of the week.  Looking forward to beginning the main house interior when we return & making some new major lists!

Boat search update:  If we had to choose today…  Thought it might be interesting to write in each weekly recap what boat we would choose if we had to choose one today.  After watching this video, I think the Lagoon 400 S2 would be a nice fit.  I was amazed at how much space there is inside this boat, and impressed at how comfortable of living quarters it is.  Mast height is 66.7′ so it may not be a great choice for the ICW.  That is a question I really need to get input on from Phil Berman next time we visit.

Today will be a more relaxed day, putting a couple of finishing touches on the Bungalow and getting the motorhome ready for the trip back.  It’s always fun for us to be on the road.  Something about driving the motorhome and seeing the countryside that is relaxing and invigorating at the same time.
